Application/use |
To manufacture liquid adhesives from cassava starch |
Description of the technology |
The pilot plant fabricated for medium scale production of cassava based adhesives has a capacity of 100 litres. It consists of a stainless steel tank to fill the starch suspension which is heated to 75-80 °C by oil heated jacket. A stirrer mechanism is provided at the top cover of the tank to eliminate lump formation during the heating (gelatinization) process. The temperature of the suspension can be controlled by a thermostat. The adhesive has applications in carton sealing, laminated board, metal foil-to-paper laminating, corrugated board, bottle and container labeling, bill posting, cigarette seaming, bag making with the advantages like good floor characteristics. ‘ready-for-use’ by the consumer, ideal for small scale entrepreneurs |
